WIN
Television is a division of the WIN Coporation, which is
based in Wollongong, New South Wales. It is the regional
affiliate of Channel Nine, and has locally based studios
throughout the country. Much of the programming on WIN is
taken from the Channel Nine. However, WIN has recently
undergone a programming change, which saw the Afternoon
Edition news bulletin and the Antiques Roadshow taken off
air. Furthermore, WIN screens Infomercials in the 11.30am
timeslot, where Fresh used to broadcast (although the
time still remains on Nine). Every weeknight at six,
Peter Leonard along with Phil Small (Sport) and Jessica
Good (Weather), present a half-hour local news bulletin,
comprising of local issues. The bulletin is replayed at
11.30pm with a different opener. Each week, Fishing
Australia and Destinations air, and are produced by WIN.
Late nights see shows created by Crawfords go to air at
3am. Due to Crawfords Productions being under the WIN
Corporation banner as well, WIN (unlike Nine and NBN) is
able to air programs including Matlock Police, Skyways,
Division 4 and more. WIN screens on Standard Definition
channel 8, and on High Definition channel 80. No
multi-channels or EPGs are currently produced by WIN. The
news bulletin is still in 4:3 broadcast, meaning it has
not converted to widescreen yet. WIN remains Australia's
largest regional television network, and number one news
source for Canberrans.
